FOGSTAND Gallery & Studio is excited to announce h_am, the second exhibition in an two part exchange with Sadie Halie Projects (Minneapolis, MN, USA). Integrating sculpture, painting, photographic images and curatorial writing, the exhibition deals with an overexposure to the artifactual, more often than not preferred over the non-authored givenness some now doubt to call nature. This exhibition marks the first exhibition for both artists, Irish artist Fiona Burke (based in Hiroshima, Japan) and Taiwanese artist Jo Mei Lee (based in Taipei), in the USA.

Running concurrently at FOGSTAND Gallery & Studio is Pink Man:Origins, curated by Sadie Halie Projects. This exhibition marks the first exhibition in Taiwan for American artist Samual Weinberg.

Darren Tesar is invited to SADIE HALIE PROJECTS for first solo show in MN, USA

June 18, 2016

SADIE HALIE PROJECTS' first show in our new Minneapolis space will feature the work of Darren Tesar. bar-mouthing will be Darren's second show at Sadie Halie Projects and will be a collection of new work and some older pieces that have been repurposed, transformed or deconstucted. Darren's often spare arrangments of objects, text and image explore notions of history, place, authroship and intent. Often decontextualized, the pieces that amass his installations are in various stages of being; Whole, reliant, separating and broken. — SADIE HALIE PROJECTS

The Snail Paradise, 2009

video clip, video 13’ 49”

The snail is the target. Slow moving and stretching, the snail always makes me think of a high speed recording slowed to a poetic effect. The snail’s shell is an easy metaphor for shelter and society (a snail without a shell is a person without a house to live in). The method for this artwork is enacted by fusing small plastic building structures from Taiwan onto the snail shells. The snails are then displayed on living plants, which, when assembled together, become little urban infrastructures.

In the end, after these altered snails eat enough of the plants that I prepared for them, they will be beaten by me and become a delicious cuisine, served on the table.
